I have struggled with thinning hair for the past few years. It's gotten worse as I've gotten older. So much worse, in fact, that I started to hate seeing pictures of myself, because my scalp would always show through right in front, and I felt like everyone could tell that my hair was thinning. I also dreaded going to get my haircut, because every stylist would feel like she had to tell me that my hair was thinning (like I didn't already know, right?).
I have tried multiple shampoos, and creams- and a ton of vitamins- but nothing has worked for me as well as Nioxin.
I have always liked Matrix Biolage hair care products, so I was glad to try out the Biolage Hydra-Seal Leave in Creme. I have thick, slightly curly hair which tends to be frizz out and look rough and unruly.
While shopping for holiday gifts last month, I stopped into my friendly neighborhood Aveda store and checked out all the new goodies. One I found: Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion.
I asked the saleswoman about it, and she said that this product increases volume and texture in your hair. When I asked how it worked, she said it uses acacia gum and kaolin clay which are both natural ingredients for bulking up hair.
After enlisting the help of my friend, Lizbeth, I bought a sample and brought it home to test.
So I struggle with fine, limp hair, and my hairdressers are forever suggesting I try this shampoo, try this conditioner, try this other thing, etc. etc. It gets on my nerves- so much so that I avoided getting a haircut for more than a year to keep from hearing how my hair is so thin and how I need this product and all that junk.
My hair is thick and curly. It takes forever to dry. (So long, in fact, that my arms ache for days after trying to blow my hair out straight.) I've had to give up on my desire for smooth, sleek hair, and to try and work with what I've got.
And what I've got is this thick mass of curly hair which goes every which way and takes forever to dry. I seem to be always walking around with a slightly damp neck, where the hair meets the back of my shirt. The problem, for me, though, has been this: when I let my hair air dry, it takes forever to actually get completely dry. When I use a blow-dryer, my arms ache from holding the dryer up. I considered one of those hairdryer stands, but have you ever tried to fit on of those things into a really, really tiny bathroom?
