I have struggled with thinning hair for the past few years. It’s gotten worse as I’ve gotten older. So much worse, in fact, that I started to hate seeing pictures of myself, because my scalp would always show through right in front, and I felt like everyone could tell that my hair was thinning. I also dreaded going to get my haircut, because every stylist would feel like she had to tell me that my hair was thinning (like I didn’t already know, right?).
I have tried multiple shampoos, and creams- and a ton of vitamins- but nothing has worked for me as well as Nioxin.
Nioxin is a non-prescription hair treatment system which works by first cleansing the scalp, and then nourishing the scalp. It has no scent (at least that I can tell) and has a pleasant, slightly tingly feeling on your scalp when you use it. You simply wash your hair with the cleanser, and then follow with the scalp therapy, which you should leave on for at least a couple of minutes to get the full effect.
I have been using Nioxin for the past 5 months, and have noticed a huge difference in the way my hair looks and feels. The thinning spot right at my forehead seems more filled in.
Other people have even commented that my hair looks thicker and fuller. Nioxin comes in several formulations: levels 1, 2, and 3. Level 1 is for those of you in the first stages of thinning, 2 is for more advanced thinning, and 3 is for severe thinning.
My hairstylist recommended that I go with 2, as she said it would give my hair a little something "extra".
She said I could go with Level 1, but that Level 2 would give me faster results. Nioxin also comes in a formula for natural hair (like mine) and color treated hair (which is the one with the goldish-brownish top.)
